The magician sets one card aside, saying that “this card doesn't exist... or almost doesn't”. Then he displays two small packets, saying that he has foreseen in advance what the spectator will choose; the spectator points to one packet, and the magician shows that it is made up of a four of a kind in sevens... but the other packet is made up of 7 cards! He reunites the packets, and there are now only 8 cards: the four sevens... and four Aces! He then adds the card that doesn't exist... and indeed, it disappears! An ace assembly routine that is a bit peculiar, since aces end up returning to their original place.

It's the story of a drunk who wants to play poker. Being drunk as a skunk, he shuffles the cards face up and face down. Pretty bad start... but it ends very, very well! You will see… The DRUNKARD POKER is a great classic for magicians who are in their forties today, and more... The original trick was published if I remember correctly by LES CAHIERS DE LA MAGIE in the 60s. I don't know to whom we owe the idea and the basic routine of this wonderful classic. I obviously used this base to make something a little different. Those who know the original will surely enjoy this new version created by me in April 90. For a long time, I let this little routine (jealously kept secret by the magic intelligentsia) "sleep". A first draft came to me in 1977, but it was of little interest. In 1983, I reworked on a concept requiring the idea of the DRUNKARD POKER. These 2 versions 77 and 83 allowed me to arrive at The Drunkard poker as it has remained since.  

One of Dominique Duvivier's favourite techniques. It looks like a simple flourish, while it keeps the deck in order. Very effective!  

This technique allows an incredible number of applications. Please note that this has nothing to do with the Cop Move. It's even better!

A card disappears completely from the deck. It dematerializes on sight! It is impossible and yet... This trick is completely crazy!  

A deck of cards doesn't seem to have been printed properly: no faces, only blue and red backs shuffled... And yet the magic happens!  

The spectator and the magician each think of a card and these two cards end up side by side in the deck of cards. Which is stranger: that the magician's card is next to the spectator's card or the other way around? A disturbing and beautiful effect!
